Press Release for immediate Release
New resources as well as numerous creative and innovative tools designed to better assist and accompany kids and their families.
Montréal, November 10, 2020 – Gender Creative Kids, an organization that supports the affirmation of trans, nonbinary, gender creative and genderfluid youth as well as their families since 2013, is thrilled to reveal the fruit of a year’s work, achieved in collaboration with the Montréal-based independent design-driven creative studio Wedge.
NEW NAME
The organization’s French name, formerly “Enfants transgenres Canada,” is henceforth “Jeunes identités créatives”. The English name, Gender Creative Kids, remains the same. After a collaborative internal reflection process around the objective of finding a name that would better embody the organization’s renewal and its revisited mission: “Jeunes identités créatives” presented itself and organically settled inside the hearts of the teams.
NEW VISUAL IDENTITY
Gender Creative Kids has had the immense privilege of collaborating with Wedge studio, who supported the organization in a thorough reflection process, allowing it to create a new, modern and context-specific visual identity. The new identity seeks to be happy, positive, inspiring and accessible. Moreover, it was paramount that the new identity and its derivatives convey a sense of safety, dignity and community. These themes reflect the organization’s values and are ever-present in the realities of the families of trans and nonbinary youth.
The bright colours and refined typography complement each other, celebrating respect, care, diversity and gender fluidity among children and youth. The characters, each more colourful than the next, populate and animate the new visual identity. They are a reminder of the importance of belonging, of the relief felt when common realities are shared and of the conviction that together, we are able to change things!
“A new image, a new French name, new projects, an expanding team: our organization is constantly transforming itself to respond to trans and nonbinary youth’s as well as their families’ most dire needs. This unique collaboration with Wedge studio allowed us to create a playful and vibrant identity that inspires joy, trust and respect.” Antoine Beaudoin Gentes – Director of Operations and Development.

A NEW CHAPTER AND EVEN MORE RESOURCES FOR YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES
Gender Creative Kids has also had the pleasure of collaborating with the KFFEIN agency who is currently building the organization’s brand new website, which will feature numerous tools to support and accompany trans and nonbinary youth as well as their families.
“This new chapter is very important for our organization: it paves the way for our highly promising future. These new initiatives will allow us to reach families and youth all over Quebec. We are thrilled to be able to meet more and more needs, every year.” Mitchell Rae Cousineau – Director of Programs and Strategies
The organization is in full bloom with several important projects to be revealed shortly. Among them is a complete pedagogical guide for elementary schools and a new counter where youth can access gender-affirming gear for free.
